Vehicles Platform
Sperry utilizes a variety of vehicle platforms to deliver our first rate inspection technology. For both the continuous and stop and verify testing modes Sperry offers a variety of railbound and hi-rail vehicles.
The railbound fleet consists of both self-propelled and unpowered vehicles in the form of the 100 Series, 200 Series, and custom installations on customers’ vehicles. The hi-rail truck fleet consists of the 800, 850, 900, and 950 Series. These vehicles are modular and come in a variety of probe and test system configurations to suit customer requirements and operating conditions.
Walking Sticks
The Sperry Walking Stick was designed for special rail test applications. Sperry Walking Sticks are currently in use on metros, high-speed rail lines and conventional rail systems to test welds, special testing situations including crossovers and replacement rail. The Walking Sticks utilize Sperry’s Roller Search Unit (RSU) probe technology and can be operated in A-Scan or B-Scan modes. In either mode, movement and defect reports are recorded digitally, and made available through the Sperry Data Management System (SDMS). The B-Scan mode provides a permanent record of test.
