FRA - Federal Railroad Administration
Purpose: To promulgate and enforce rail safety regulations; administer railroad assistance programs; conduct research and development in support of improved railroad safety and national rail transportation policy; provide for the rehabilitation of Northeast Corridor rail passenger service; and consolidate government support of rail transportation activities.
AREMA - The American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association
Purpose: The development and advancement of both technical and practical knowledge and recommended practices pertaining to the design, construction and maintenance of railway infrastructure.
REMSA - Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association
Purpose: To provide global business development opportunities to members; to transfer knowledge about markets, products and the industry to members and their customers, and to support government initiatives that advance the North American railroad industry.
ASNT - American Society for Nondestructive Testing
Purpose: The world's largest technical society for nondestructive testing (NDT) professionals. They provide a forum for exchange of NDT technical information; NDT educational materials and programs; and standards and services for the qualification and certification of NDT personnel. ASNT promotes the discipline of NDT as a profession and facilitates NDT research and technology applications.
