“Best in Class On-Boarding and Orientation Program at Sperry Rail Service”
July 20, 2011 - Beginning this year, Human Resources has reinvigorated how new employees start their careers at Sperry Rail Service. Each new employee attends a one-week program at the headquarters, located in Danbury, Connecticut.
Sperry’s orientation curriculum and training consists of classroom training, on the road training, and test vehicle training. Safety is job number one at Sperry and much of the program is geared towards safe work habits, both on and off the rails. Each individual is trained and certified in the Smith Defensive Driving System, Roadway Worker Training, CPR and First Aid, DOT and Transport Canada regulations and rules, and other policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
In addition, subject matter experts from the field and the Danbury facility teach and guest speak during the program. We have found this to be invaluable in the transfer of knowledge and expertise.
