Sperry Dual Rail Inspection Systems Utilization Increasing
December 30, 2011
The Sperry B-Scan Dual Rail Inspection System has gained increased acceptance in the North American railroad market and the product is now being used at four CLASS I railroads. The unit features a fully calibrated, multi-channel inspection system incorporating Sperry’s B-Scan Flaw Detector technology. The system allows a Sperry qualified operator to test two rails at the same time improving testing efficiency and operating cost-effectiveness.
The product, first released at the beginning of the 2011, has found its niche for testing where the light-weight and portable unit is the right fit for the job. December of 2011 was a record month for units put into service. Although small and flexible, the unit is robust and powerful recording all test data including rail defect details, landmarks, and rail features. The unit is equipped with GPS technology and provides both a permanent record of test but also a constant breadcrumb trail of activity.
More information on the unit can be found in our brochure or by calling Sperry at 1-203-791-4500
